Saab's Combitech, a Nordic technical consultancy company, has been contracted to deliver its digital automated terminal information service system (D-ATIS) and ATIS at Stockholm Arlanda, Stockholm Bromma, Göteborg Landvetter and Malmö Sturup airports in Sweden.

The scope of the contract, which was awarded by airport operator Swedavia, also includes provisions for the deployment of D-ATIS and ATIS solutions to four additional airports in Sweden.

Combitech System Integration head and responsible for air traffic management (ATM) services Magnus Johansson said: “The contract is in my opinion further evidence that Combitech is the leading provider of weather information systems for the aviation market.

"Our D-ATIS and ATIS systems have a modern architecture that can be easily integrated into the customer's ATM infrastructure."

The D-ATIS / ATIS systems will provide air navigation services, as well as enable ATIS messages for data link transmission and high-quality synthetic voice ATIS broadcasts.

In addition, pilots will be able to use aircraft communications addressing and reporting systems (ACARS) to retrieve weather information more quickly and easily before contacting air traffic control (ATC).
