Xiamen

China-based Xiamen Airlines is to launch the first service between Xiamen and Shenzhen with Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, US, in September.

The proposed service expects to harmonise business and community ties between Seattle and Shenzhen, one of China’s largest cities.

The new route will start in Xiamen city, the headquarters of Xiamen Airlines, and will travel to Shenzhen before a nonstop flight to Seattle.

Xiamen Airlines currently operates an all-Boeing fleet in China and expects to serve the new route three times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with 787-8 jet.

Port of Seattle commissioner Fred Felleman said: "Service between the two leading technology centres of Shenzhen and Seattle is a very important addition to the Port of Seattle’s direct flights throughout Asia.

"Our goal of being a world-class international airport not only refers to customer service but also reaching new and diverse parts of the world."

"We value Xiamen Airlines commitment to connecting our region’s leisure and business travellers to new opportunities with state of the art Boeing 787 airplanes.
