Bristol Airport has announced the commencement of a project to enhance and enlarge immigration hall to boost passenger arrival experience.
The £2.3m project is scheduled to get completed by April this year.
Upon completion, the number of passport control points will increase to 17 from the current count of ten. It will include ten of the latest ePassport gates that will facilitate safe, secure and speedy immigration and replace the conventional border control process.
Bristol Airport official Alison Roberts said: “These new facilities will be in place for passengers from April onwards, in time for the busy summer holiday season and will make a big difference to the airport experience.
“In the meantime, we will be working closely with Border Force to keep any inconvenience to passengers during the improvement works to a minimum.”
The airport's immigration hall will be redesigned to create more space and enhance its ambience for passengers.

According to the refurbishment plan, the older facilities will be removed first to make space for the new technology and equipment.
Due to this removal, the ePassport gates will be unavailable for passengers for the next three months until work is completed.
During this time, all international passengers will have to go through conventional passport checks.
