Bombardier Commercial Aircraft has delivered two new Q400 turboprop aircraft to Tanzania Government Flight Agency (TGFA) for flights operated by Air Tanzania, the country’s national airline.
Part of Bombardier’s Q series family of aircraft, the newly delivered Q400 turboprops are equipped with 76 seats and dual-lavatory configuration.

With the latest delivery, the number of Q Series turboprops operating in Africa has increased to nearly 125 aircraft, which include 40 Q400 planes.
Tanzania Ministry of Transport, Works and Communication Permanent Secretary Dr Leonard Chamuriho said: “As we look to expand operations and increase our route network across Tanzania and the African continent, the technologically advanced Q400 aircraft is a key component in our growth strategy.
“Its ability to operate at challenging airfields, combined with its fuel efficiency, excellent reliability and comfortable passenger amenities, make it a valuable addition to our fleet.”
Bombardier said that its Q400 aircraft is capable of reducing fuel consumption by 30%.

By GlobalDataCapable of cruising at a maximum speed of 160km/h, Q400 aircraft are available in single-class configuration, as well as extra-capacity and cargo-passenger combi configuration.
Bombardier Commercial Aircraft Middle East and Africa sales vice-president Jean-Paul Boutibou said: “The Q400 aircraft is showcased very well in Africa where it has proven itself to be extremely efficient and continues to maintain strong market share in its class.”
In Johannesburg, South Africa, Bombardier operates a regional support office (RSO) and spare parts depot and runs authorised service facilities in South Africa and Ethiopia.
The company has so far received 565 firm orders for Q400 aircraft.
More than 60 owners and operators in almost 40 countries are currently operating the Q400 aircraft family.
