Bell Helicopter has extended its existing contract with Kaman Aerosystems, to produce skin and skin-to-core components for Bell’s commercial helicopters.

The extended contract is valued at more than $24m and increases the existing agreement for a further three years.

Kaman Aerospace will continue to manufacture the components at its facility in Bloomfield, Connecticut, US.

Kaman Connecticut composite structures division general manager Tim Bates said: "This programme, which began in 2010, has evolved as the scope has grown and we are delighted to continue our relationship with Bell Helicopter."

Bell awarded a $53m contract to Kaman in 2009, to build composite helicopter blade skins and skin core assemblies for Bell Helicopters.

Under the contract, Kaman is to deliver 18 different assemblies for H1, 406, 407, 412, 427, 429, 430 and BA609 aircraft.

Kaman supplies aero-structures, including metallic and composite structural assemblies and metallic parts for OEM and aerospace companies.
