US-based Allegheny Technologies Incorporated (ATI) has entered a new long-term purchase agreement (LTPA) with Pratt & Whitney (P&W) to supply various jet engine parts.
Under the deal, ATI will provide isothermal forgings and nickel-based powder alloys for P&W’s new PurePower Geared Turbofan engine (GTF) and other similar programmes.
The LTPA is built upon a master service agreement signed between P&W’s parent company United Technologies (UTC) and ATI last year.
Validity of the LTPA is set to begin this year and will continue during the entire lifecycle of the engine programmes.
ATI chairman, president and CEO Rich Harshman said: “Demand for P&W’s game-changing PurePower Geared Turbofan engine (GTF) is scheduled to grow dramatically over the next decade and beyond in support of next-generation narrowbody aircraft build rates.
“Through this agreement, ATI significantly increases our content on the GTF engine, as well as on the P&W F135 engine for the Joint Strike Fighter programme.”

By GlobalDataWith the latest deal, ATI also aims to generate more than $1bn in revenue between this year and 2030.
P&W global supply chain vice-president Sam Abdelmalek said: “Agreements like this secure sources of parts and components for years to come and ensure the capacity investments to support our production ramp.”
The company further noted that it seeks to develop an improved and integrated supply chain for its aircraft engine strategies through UTC's Supplier Gold Programme.
