French aerospace company ALTYS Technologies has launched SAGA, its turnkey solution for international airports and the air traffic control (ATC) community.

SAGA has been introduced to provide ATC and airport operators with real-time visibility over airport surface and terminal area movements, as well as advanced statistics, reports and alarms.

The new solution can be used either with an existing surveillance infrastructure or with ALTYS’s ASTRA automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) ground station and multilateration (MLAT) system.

ALTYS Monitoring and Data Engineering head Patrick Rahmoune said: “We have worked closely with airport operators throughout the design and development process to best meet the end user’s needs and make SAGA as easy-to-use as possible.

“SAGA can be smoothly deployed at any airport operational control centre or controller working position, and offers 24/7 web access over a secure server application.

“It is currently undergoing operational trials at a number of international and regional airports.”

ALTYS has developed SAGA to improve situational awareness and efficiency during airport operations through improved information-sharing capabilities among airport stakeholders.

The new system also helps airports to handle rising traffic flows in spite of infrastructural constraints.

SAGA allows users to track airside vehicles and aeroplanes, both on the airport surface and in terminal area.

"SAGA can be smoothly deployed at any airport operational control centre or controller working position."

Its web application allows several airport stakeholders to receive real-time updates and alarms for temporary exclusion zone incursion, runway incursion and conflict risk.

The SAGA system is designed to provide operational monitoring and custom reports for in / off-block times, taxi in / out times, landing / take-off times, runway occupancy times, and airport segment utilisation statistics.

SAGA's data fusion system helps integrate data flows from multiple airport surveillance sources, including SMR, ADS-B, and MLAT.

It also processes data from other solutions, including the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System (ACARS), and ATC data link communications.
