India-based Alpha Design Technologies (ADTL) has entered a deal with Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for assembly, integration and testing of two Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System Satellites (IRNSS).
Comprising a constellation of seven satellites, IRNSS has been designed to provide accurate position information service to users in India, extending to an area of 1,500km.
In 2013, ISRO launched the first satellite of the IRNSS constellation, IRNSS-1A, and placed the seventh satellite of the constellation this year.
As part of its deal with ISRO, the company will select 70 employees to be trained at ISRO for nine months.
During the training, the ADTL team will be guided in on-job learning, as well as actual assembly, integration and testing of the contracted satellites.
ADTL will also invest to develop new satellite manufacturing, assembly, integration, testing and qualification facilities in order to provide four to five satellites to ISRO over the next two years, reported PTI.

By GlobalDataADTL chairman H S Shankar said: “We will fabricate the two satellites with the help of ISRO at its satellite facility in the city, as they are a part of the constellation as spare spacecraft and bid for more satellites through a global tender that the space agency will float soon.”
The company recently finalised a contract with Elbit Systems to produce 600 VHF communication devices.
