Airbus has selected ATK to manufacture and supply composite stringers and frames for the 1000 variant of the A350 XWB programme.
The latest contract is an addition to the work that is already being performed on the A350 XWB programme, and is an expansion to ATK’s collaboration with Airbus and its partners, Aerolia and Premium Aerotec.
ATK Aerospace Structures division vice-president and general manager Joy de Lisser said: "Our work with Airbus is an incredibly important component of growth for ATK in the commercial aerospace structures business, as we consistently provide highly engineered solutions for our customers."
ATK is currently producing composite stringers and frames for the A350 XWB-900 and has also delivered more than 10,000 parts since the starting of the programme.
Work on A350 XWB is performed at ATK’s Aircraft Commercial Center of Excellence (ACCE) site in Clearfield, Utah, US.
ATK uses its automated stiffener forming machines (ASFM) in the development and manufacture of high-rate production composite stringers and frames, particularly for A350 XWB composite stringers and frames.
