Algeria’s national airline Air Algerie is set to order eight Boeing Next-Generation 737-800 aircraft, worth $724m at list prices, as part of the carrier’s continued fleet renewal and expansion.

Air Algerie’s commitment for 737-800 jets will all feature the Boeing Sky Interior, the 787 Dreamliner inspired cabin.

The jets will offer passengers larger window reveals, LED lighting and increased pivot overhead storage lockers.

Air Algerie chief executive officer Mohamed Salah Boultif said the 737-800 continues to be the backbone of the airline’s fleet.

"So far, we are pleased with these aircraft, and anticipate receiving all eight of these new units before the end of 2016," Boultif said.

The 737-800 belong to Boeing’s Next-Generation 737 single-aisle aircraft family. To date, Boeing has received more than 4,500 orders for 737-800s by several airlines worldwide.

Air Algerie currently operates an aircraft fleet of 17 Next-Generation 737-800s and five 737-600s.
