Ground services company Menzies Aviation will be part of the newly built Western Sydney International (WSI) Airport in Australia when it opens in 2026, operating a facility in the airport’s cargo precinct.
The 22,500 square metre facility will be operated by Menzies on a long-term lease and include a 12,500 square metre warehouse specialising in pharmaceutical and cool chain products, e-commerce, and heavy cargo.

Beau Paine, Menzies’s global head of cargo, said: “This operation will enable us deliver first-class, interconnected cargo services at both of Sydney’s international airports, expanding our service offering to our airline and freighter customers.
“We’re excited to increase our footprint in Australia and support the country’s thriving air cargo sector.”
The new facility will include a range of modern equipment, including an Elevating Transfer Vehicle system capable of handling more than 150 main deck Unit Load Devices (ULD), and be fitted for compatibility with autonomous vehicles and robotic solutions.
According to Menzies, local teams at the facility are predicted to handle more than 150,000 tonnes of cargo annually, with the airport’s cargo precinct expected to boost Sydney’s air cargo capacity by 33% on its first day of operations.

By GlobalDataThe addition of Menzies to WSI’s operations adds to the growing list of partners preparing to make use of the new airport, which is hoping to become one of the world’s busiest airports with a roadmap to welcoming 82 million annual passengers.
WSI CEO Simon Hickey said: “The precinct and our partners will also help generate thousands more jobs for Western Sydney locals during construction and operations, which is just another way we’re supercharging the nation’s economy and supporting resilient supply chains on which all Australians rely.”
The airport has also seen investment from Australia’s flag carrier airline Qantas which will operate at least 15 aircraft from the site once it opens, including 10 Jetstar routes and five Qantas domestic routes.
