The Airport Authority of Hong Kong has selected CIMIC Group subsidiary Leighton Asia and its joint venture (JV) partner Chun Wo Construction and Engineering Company for a A$390m ($295.3m) construction contract at Hong Kong International Airport.

The deal will include work on foundation and substructures for the airport’s Terminal 2 (T2).

Leighton Asia is part of CIMIC Group’s construction unit CPB Contractors. It holds a total 70% stake in the JV.

CIMIC Group CEO Adolfo Valderas said: “We are pleased to play a greater role in the development of one of the world’s fastest growing airports, following our selection this year to deliver the A$278m ($210.5m) Terminal 1 expansion for the Airport Authority Hong Kong.

“Leading the JV, Leighton Asia will deliver the foundations for the upgraded T2, as well as two annex buildings and associated viaducts.”

The company will also carry out construction of the T2 basement and advance works such as the south annex building’s structures, diaphragm walls, and utility services.
