Chinese technology firm Huawei has launched its Smart Airport 2.0 Solution that provides airports with a one-stop information and communication technologies (ICT) platform featuring cloud-pipe-device collaboration.

The solution, which was rolled out at CEBIT 2018 in Hannover, Germany, covers aspects such as visualised operational processes, safety, services, and airport IoT.

Huawei stated that the new Smart Airport 2.0 Solution focuses more on technology connection among intelligent video surveillance, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI), and the Internet of Things (IoT).

The linkages facilitate data communication among numerous vertical business systems at airports and helps to drive intelligent airport operations, speed up security responses and offers convenient and comfortable passenger experiences.

“In the future, Huawei will continue innovating and focus on developing ICT solutions that use cloud computing, mobile connectivity, IoT, and Big Data, helping customers achieve digital transformation and build future-oriented smart airports.”

Huawei Enterprise Business Group transportation sector president Liu Zhongheng said: “Huawei provides airports with an end-to-end ICT solution with a competitive edge at the cloud, pipe, and device layers.

“The solution improves ICT-based, intelligent, and secure airport management and enhances passenger experiences.

“In the future, Huawei will continue innovating and focus on developing ICT solutions that use cloud computing, mobile connectivity, IoT, and Big Data, helping customers achieve digital transformation and build future-oriented smart airports.”

Leveraging new ICT technologies, the new solution reconstructs airport information flows and offers benefits in the context of operating efficiency, operational safety, mobility, and the quality of services for passengers and enterprises.

The Smart Airport 2.0 Solution also delivers all-scenario designs that run through every step of an airport’s aircraft flow and passenger flow.

Huawei’s Smart Airport 2.0 Solution allows airports to deploy the smart allocation of aircraft stands, smart navigation lighting, and visualised ground handling, which aims to improve operating efficiency and reduce flight turnaround time.

Furthermore, the IoT-based smart navigation solution can monitor and control navigation lights in real-time and helps to slash manual inspection costs by over 10,000 hours per person annually.

Huawei’s Smart Airport 2.0 Solution provides airports with customised panoramic video surveillance and intelligent perimeter protection to ensure airport safety.
