Hamad International Airport (HIA) has selected Hill International to provide project and construction management services (PMCM) for expansion of the airport in Qatar.

This project features expansion of the existing passenger terminal complex, a remote transfer baggage facility, passenger amenity areas and additional e-gates.

Taxiways, new lounges, aprons, support facilities, expanded fuel farms, and other associated infrastructure are also part of the project.

Hamad International Airport Expansion Project Steering Committee expects completion of the new project to increase the airport’s passenger handling capacity to 53 million annually.

HIA, which is situated at the edge of the Arabian Gulf, includes two runways, maintenance hangars, an air traffic control tower, a cargo terminal, an Emiri Terminal, and a catering facility.

It includes a passenger terminal with over 40,000m² of amenities, including combined food, retail, and beverage facilities.

Hill regional president Abdo Kardous for Middle East Abdo Kardous said: “Hill International has long been a go-to firm for providing Project and Construction Management services for major projects in the aviation sector, as this project award reaffirms.

“As Hamad International Airport continues ascending in international importance, we look forward to providing the expertise and responsiveness needed to meet our client’s requirements.”

This expansion supports the growth of both Hamad Airport and Qatar Airways.
