Gulfstream’s new flagship jet was unveiled at the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) last month. Gulfstream is a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics.

Under the agreement, the company will be involved in the design and production of the empennage and thermoplastic parts such as floorboards, rudder and elevators, as well as the manufacture of bonded fuselage panels.

Engineer teams from the two companies have already partnered for the design phase.

Work under the contract will be carried out in Hoogeveen and Papendrecht facilities in the Netherlands.

Since 1993, GKN Aerospace has been associating with Gulfstream in various business jet programmes.

GKN Aerospace Aerostructures and Systems Europe and Asia CEO John Pritchard said: “We are proud to be selected again as a key supplier on Gulfstream’s latest flagship.

“Our partnership of more than 25 years in all Gulfstream’s business jets is extremely valuable and has led to many breakthroughs in lightweight composite technology. We truly feel part of the Gulf.”

GKN Aerospace’s business jet empennages have been supplied for a number of Gulfstream large and ultra-large cabin aircraft. They have also been used on Cessna, Dassault and HondaJet’s business jets.

Last September, GKN Aerospace was contracted by ArianeGroup for two full-scale turbines for the Prometheus low-cost, reusable rocket engine demonstrator.
