Global aerospace company Embraer has announced a $30m investment for the expansion of its Eugênio de Melo unit in São José dos Campos, Brazil.

The project will allow Eugênio de Melo unit to serve as the company’s global engineering and technology centre.

The unit will focus on developing new projects and solutions to support Embraer’s businesses including defence and security, air mobility, aerospace and others.

Construction of new site facilities will increase the accommodation capacity from 1,500 to 4,000 employees. The size of the facility will also increase from 70,000m² to 110,000m².

The new site will be equipped with flexible furniture, interactive whiteboards and informal meeting rooms, as well as Wi-Fi and space for work, resting and socialising purposes.

The company will also expand the existing facilities, including the restaurant, concierge, bus platforms and parking.

Work is expected to be completed in the last quarter of this year.

Embraer is currently using the Eugênio de Melo site for activities such as manufacturing, development, engineering, structural and system testing, training and other administrative and research.
