EgyptAir has converted a previously announced letter of intent (LoI) to firm order to purchase 12 CS300 aircraft from Bombardier for a list price of $1.1bn.
The deal also includes purchase rights for 12 additional CS300 aircraft.
The newly confirmed LoI was announced in November during the last year’s Dubai Air Show and expects to allow EgyptAir to better serve domestic and regional destinations, in addition to several European and African destinations.
EgyptAir Chairman and CEO Safwat Musallam said: “The CS300’s unique profitability profile will allow us to open up new opportunities and fits perfectly into our growth strategy.
“Our passengers will experience modern and best-in-class comfort, and we look forward to integrate this innovative and efficient aircraft to our fleet.”
Bombardier’s C Series aircraft are designed to cater to the 100 to 150-seat market segment.

In a separate development, Bombardier has secured an order from an undisclosed customer to provide six CRJ900 aircraft for $290m at list prices.
Options for six additional CRJ900 regional jets are also included in the order, the value of which will be increased to $580m once the options are exercised.
The order has enabled Bombardier to receive 1,918 firm orders for CRJ Series of aircraft.
