Global air and travel services provider dnata has started operations at Zanzibar Abeid Amani Karume International Airport (ZNZ) in Tanzania, along with its partners Emirates Leisure Retail and SEGAP.

The partners joined forces with the Zanzibar Airports Authority (ZAA) to offer their services for airlines, as well as passengers, at the newly constructed international terminal (T3) in ZNZ.

As part of this initiative, the three firms are said to have invested more than $10m and created 500 local employment opportunities.

At ZNZ, dnata is providing its ground, passenger, and cargo handling services to airline customers, and has also launched meet and greet and lounge services through its airport hospitality brand ‘Marhaba’.

Meanwhile, Emirates Leisure Retail teamed up with MMI as master concessionaire for all food and beverage, duty free, and commercial stores at the new terminal.

SEGAP signed a ten-year technical partnership agreement with ZAA to manage and operate Zanzibar and Pemba airports.
