Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport in the US is set to renovate its Terminal E Satellite facility in order to improve customer experience.

Under the renovation, the nine-gate terminal will add six additional gates as well as other modern terminal and concessions space.

Expected to serve the regional jets, the new and the existing gates will include spaces with more seating configured with slots to power electronic devices. The gates will also feature improved wayfinding signage.

“We’re excited to extend some of those same enhancements to Terminal E’s satellite gates, delivering more consistent aesthetics and amenities for our customers.”

Air and electrical systems, carpeting, surfaces and jet bridges will also be upgraded.

The upgrades will also involve the inclusion of new conveyance systems including elevators and moving sidewalks to be used by customers to access the satellite area from the main Terminal E concourse.

DFW Airport infrastructure and development executive vice-president Khaled Naja said: “As DFW continues to attract more air service and more customers, we are embarking on a mission to deliver more gates to meet the growing demand.

In addition, DFW Airport signed an agreement with American Airlines for leasing the new satellite gates.

The agreement covers a provision for the airline to conduct $20m worth of the planned upgrades.

The work is scheduled to begin this year and is scheduled for completion next year, following which the Terminal E Satellite will be used to accommodate American Airlines’ regional flights.
