Denver International Airport (DEN) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) have released a new passenger screening system featuring enhanced advanced imaging technology (eAIT).

The new system is designed to improve checkout security. It also screens passengers in less than one second, allowing travellers to move through lines faster.

Denver International Airport CEO Kim Day said: “Our strong partnership with TSA has allowed us to once again bring in new screening technology to DEN that will improve the passenger screening process while enhancing security.

“Much like the new automated screening lanes installed this fall, we will test this new screening equipment in hopes of a wider implementation once the new screening area on level six is constructed.”

“TSA is committed to evaluating and deploying the best cutting-edge technologies to keep passengers secure.”

Deployed at the north security checkpoint, the eAIT system can screen passengers for metallic and non-metallic weapons, explosives and other concealed objects without physical contact.

The system uses non-ionising radio-frequency energy in the millimetre spectrum, which complies with national health and safety standards.
