Delta Air Lines has announced plans to open its new Terminal C at LaGuardia Airport in the US on 4 June.

The new $4bn terminal opening marks the completion of $8bn new LaGuardia Airport and follows the completion of the new Terminal B in January this year.

The 1.3 million ft2 Terminal C will be 85% larger than the other two terminals it is replacing.

Through a 21st century arrivals and departures hall, the terminal consolidates access to 37 gates.

It features latest technologies like hands-free bag drop and Digital ID screening capabilities and allows travellers to navigate to and from their gates quickly and intuitively.

New York Governor Kathy Hochul said: “The transformation of a LaGuardia Airport into a world-class destination that is internationally recognised for its beauty is an integral part of our bold vision for a new era in New York.

“The opening of Delta’s $4bn Terminal C will help provide a state-of-the-art passenger experience, easing connections and creating lasting impressions.”

A curbside check-in building at the terminal will allow passengers, who have already checked-in, to go directly to the security screening area.

The departures hall at Terminal C features 16 bag-drop counters, 49 self-service kiosks, and 36 full-service check-in counters.

The security area will have 11 screening lanes along with space for five additional lanes in the future.

Partnership for New York City president and CEO Kathryn Wylde said: “The completion of a new Terminal C marks an important milestone on the path toward achieving a world class airport system in our city.”
