Birmingham Airport has awarded a five-year contract to WSP, an engineering consultancy firm based in the UK, to provide a range of services.

The contract forms a part of the ten-year development programme of the airport and includes an option to extend the term for two years.

WSP will deliver civil engineering, airfield, baggage handling, environmental advisory, fire engineering, security and building services.

The programme enables the airport to meet growing passenger demands and requirements.

Singaporean consultancy firm Changi Airports International (CAI) has reached an agreement with Hunan Airport Management Group of China for cooperation in airport consultancy projects.

“Delta Air Lines has partnered with US CBP, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the TSA to develop a biometric terminal at Maynard H Jackson International Airport.”

The collaboration enables CAI to extend its cooperation in the areas of operation, maintenance, planning and design of airports operated by the group.

Delta Air Lines has partnered with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to develop a biometric terminal at Maynard H Jackson International Airport in Atlanta.

Terminal F at the airport will become the first biometric terminal in the US once operational in late-2018.

The biometric terminal will provide departing passengers an option to use the facial recognition technology to check-in at various counters in the airport.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore has awarded a contract to Rohde & Schwarz, an air traffic control (ATC) communication service provider based in Germany, for the modernisation and expansion of Singapore Changi Airport’s ATC radio communications system.

The upgrade is intended to enhance the safety of airlines and passengers at the airport.

Rohde & Schwarz will be responsible for the installation of 240 R&S Series 4200 VHF/UHF radios at the airport and construction of new radio stations at Changi East.
