The Los Angeles City Council has approved a $4.9bn contract with LAX Integrated Express Solutions to develop an automated people mover train system at Los Angeles International Airport in the US.

The 30-year contract will include design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance of the APM.

The project will be executed through a public-private partnership contracting model.

Air Seychelles has expanded its codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways PJSC to extend its network to Minsk, Belarus.

The company will share its HM code on flights on the Minsk-Abu Dhabi route three times a week from 29 April.

A joint venture (JV) between Orascom Construction and Al Sahraa General Transport & Clearance Abu Dhabi has secured a contract from Abu Dhabi Airports to expand Fujairah International Airport in the United Arab Emirates.

Design and construction of a new parallel taxiway and emergency runway are included in the contract, as well as an upgrade and extension to the existing runway.

The JV will also build a new air traffic control tower and an aircraft rescue and firefighting substation.

The City of Los Angeles Department of Airports and Westfield have awarded a contract to SSP America to develop and operate food and beverage facilities at Los Angeles International Airport.

SSP America will build five new restaurants covering 9,160ft² and bring a mix of local celebrity and chef-led favourites, as well as other world-class national brands.

Northrop Grumman Corporation UK-based subsidiary Park Air Systems has received a contract from air navigation services provider NAV CANADA to provide air traffic control software.

Park Air Systems will deliver the latest version of MARC Server remote control system to help NAV CANADA monitor the nationwide air traffic control radio system from multiple locations.

A purpose-built interface module is also being developed by Northrop Grumman for monitoring NAV CANADA’s Radio Telecom Interface Multiplexer (RTIM) network management equipment.
