Aircraft technology manufacturer Blue Sky Network’s HawkEye autonomous distress tracking (ADT) aircraft device has received certification from the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

The company received an approved model list supplemental type certificate (AML-STC) for use on the Boeing 737 type series.

The HawkEye ADT is an autonomous distress tracking device and solution to meet ICAO requirements developed in response to high-profile aircraft accidents.

HawkEye ADT provides airline operations centres and comprehensive ADT compliance with International Civil Aviation Organization Global Aeronautical Distress and Safety System (ICAO-GADSS) regulations.

The HawkEye ADT unit comprises an advanced attitude and heading reference system (AHRS) that helps in finding the flight status in real-time.

It is also equipped with dual Iridium modem redundancy and voice connectivity via the Iridium satellite for 100% reliable global coverage and increased safety.

Blue Sky Network teaming partner Aircraft Tracking Solutions founder and CEO Jon Gilbert said: “This stand-alone intelligent product will set a higher expectation level in commercial aviation for aircraft normal and distress tracking in alignment with GADSS compliance.”
