Airport monitoring software developer Adveez has completed the installation of its third airport Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Speed Control System (SCS) at Lyon Airport (LYS) in France.
The Adveez GSE SCS enables airports to reduce speed in baggage drop-off galleries, tunnels and other areas with low-speed requirements.
Adveez’s new speed control system for electric GSEs instantly decreases the speed of a GSE through radio frequency (RF) detection.
The company has previously installed similar systems at Nice (NCE) and Marseille (MRS) airports.
Featuring a simple receiver installed on individual GSEs and RF beacons, the system automatically switches to slow or ‘turtle’ mode when it detects GSE.
A second beacon has been installed at the exit of the speed-restricted area to automatically switch the speed of the GSE back to ‘normal’ mode.

Offered as a stand-alone system, the Adveez SCS is part of a larger IoT offering of purpose-built electronic control and data capture hardware and software for airport GSEs to deliver safety, security, tracking and information about the use of equipment.
According to Adveez, the data provides real-time information for dynamic maintenance scheduling, accident reduction and fleet-sizing based on usage, and data to enhance plane turn operations.
Dhia further added: “We are currently pursuing other markets where electric vehicle assets need speed control, including logistics operations where the use of electric forklifts is prevalent.”
