American Airlines (AAL) has selected Services by Airbus to upgrade the cabins of its 202 in-service A321 aircraft.
The installation of Airbus’ new Airspace XL bins is included as part of the order.
The bins are designed to provide 40% extra storage space for carry-on luggage, and reduce bin crowding and the requirement of checking bags at the gate.
The retrofits will be carried out as part of a project that intends to standardise AAL’s A321s fleet with a common seat count and interior.
AAL’s future A321 aircraft will feature the Airspace XL bins.
Services by Airbus head Laurent Martinez said: “Thanks to this Airbus cabin retrofit, passengers on American Airlines’ A321s will be able to board faster and enjoy an overall improved travel experience.
