The Airports Authority of India (AAI) will provide approximately Rs4bn ($60.13m) for the expansion of Dabolim International Airport located in Goa, India.
These extensions, along with the new airport currently being developed in the Mopa region, are set to cater to the increasing passenger traffic due to emerging tourism in Goa.

Even after completion of the international greenfield Mopa airport, the Dabolim Civil Aviation Enclave is set to continue operation of civil commercial flights.
A statement from the AAI read: “Airports Authority of India has already taken up action to invest around Rs4bn to improve the passenger facilities and carry out various expansion works at its existing Dabolim International Airport.”
The upgrade will see terminal building extension, construction of parking bays and a parallel taxiway to better manage traffic and increased movements.
In addition, an in-line X-ray baggage system, self-service kiosks and Common User Terminal Equipment (CUTE) will be added to improve the capacity and passenger throughput.

By GlobalDataIn 2017, the Dabolim Airport is reported to have handled more than 7.5 million passengers.
The airport operates an Airport Operations Control Center (AOCC), which uses real-time flight information to improve the overall efficiency of its operations.
Earlier this month, the AAI also entered into an agreement with the Ministry of External Affairs of India to develop Kalay Airport in Myanmar.
Under the agreement, the airport authority will prepare a detailed project report (DPR) in the first development phase of the airport.
