Gentrack, a leading provider of airport management solutions has announced the signing of a contract with the Airport Authority (AA) Hong Kong to deploy its 20/20 aeronautical billing system to Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), one of the world’s busiest airports.

An exhaustive global selection process undertaken by the AA saw Gentrack and its 20/20 aeronautical billing solution come up against a large number of competing companies. Offering a comprehensive and proven aeronautical billing solution, Airport 20/20 was the system of choice to support the airport’s growth plans said Airport 20/20 general manager, Nigel Farley.

Gentrack has appointed Hewlett Packard (HP) as its partner and sub-contractor to support the project at HKIA. HP has an extensive history with HKIA having delivered IT systems to the airport since its establishment in 1998.

"We selected HP as our partner for the project given their vast experience of delivering solutions and services to HKIA," continued Farley. "A local partner with onsite presence adds significant value to the project given their knowledge of HKIA’s existing IT infrastructure and strategy."

The Airport 20/20 solution will consolidate four existing billing systems at HKIA providing a single comprehensive aeronautcal billing solution to manage a multitude of critical revenue streams for the airport. The system will fully integrate with HKIA’s existing airport operational database (AODB) and is designed to streamline the collection and processing of airport data to enable comprehensive billing activities.

Hong Kong International Airport has one of the busiest international passenger terminals and international cargo facilities in the world with nearly 51 million passengers passing through its gates in 2010 and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) forecasting growth to 97 million by 2030. Cargo volumes and air traffic movements are also forecast to almost double in the same period.
