Ultra Electronics Airport Systems, the specialist provider of systems integration services, airport operational systems, passenger processing and baggage processing systems, will be using its stand at Passenger Terminal Exhibition in Vienna, 18-20 April 2012, to launch its exciting new airport management platform: UltraApex – the Airport Performance Expert System.

UltraApex is a total airport management solution, consisting of a number of modules that enables a customer to choose the functionality required at their airport. UltraApex allows airport and terminal managers, and all airport stakeholders to have a consistent view of real time information in an easily accessible graphical format, with drill down capability for deeper investigation into underlying factors.

This display allows all airport stakeholders to react immediately to resource clashes, building queues or other developing situations, while managing mitigating actions before passengers or airport users are even aware. The system allows real time and historical analysis of situations, and helps planning for special handling of situations, such as times of high traffic and sports events.

The first in the UltraApex series of modules addresses the demand from European mid-size airports to implement EuroControl A-CDM. It provides a dashboard display of all 16 A-CDM milestones for each aircraft at the target airport, showing the progression through the aircraft turnaround process and raising alerts if an aircraft is likely to miss its assigned departure slot.

The UltraApex A-CDM module is integrated with flight information systems to receive up-to-date schedule information and flight updates, and its internal logic supports the predictive capability to then raise the required alerts when a milestone is predicted to be missed or the data accuracy fails the defined tolerance checks.

UltraApex A-CDM can be integrated to the ATC and other systems at the airport to send EuroControl DPI messages, which is the key to EuroControl CFMU A-CDM integration. The UltraApex A-CDM module is currently being used at Geneva Airport, a key airport in European flight planning. Ultra, Geneva Airport and EuroControl are working together to achieve CDM Airport status for Geneva within 2012.
