Lödige Industries has more than 40 years of experience in providing airport logistics solutions for optimal efficiency and reliability.
The success of airport operations is based on the quality, speed and reliability of the equipment. More than 15 million tonnes of air freight are handled annually by our systems worldwide.
We help to define requirements or follow concepts so we develop complete solutions or provide components for your terminal. Providing speed, accuracy and reliability for your air freight operation is ensured by the quality of our engineering, extensive experience and state-of-the-art systems automation.
Individual solutions from our air cargo product portfolio include:
Increase the efficiency of your terminal with Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) for baggage and cargo ULDs
The introduction of the intelligent automated guided vehicles (AGV) for flexible and scalable ULD transportation revolutionises baggage and cargo ULD handling.
Lödige’s AGVs perform as an integrated element of fully automated cargo terminals and provide the link between import / export areas and build and break work zones, as well as automated storage and retrieval systems.
The AGV supports cargo handlers taking the first steps towards the benefits of automation in manual terminals. Route transportation throughout the terminal can be made quick, easy and assigned via the warehouse management system (WMS) while stationary equipment is reduced to create flexible, scalable and reliable cargo flows.
Our AGV delivers absolute accuracy and complete control over cargo flows with data-based intelligence. The risk of ULD damage is reduced, 24/7 operations are enabled and the workforce is freed for higher-value tasks.
Helsinki Airport Cool Nordic Cargo Hub
Lödige Industries delivered state-of-the-art automation technology to handle growing cargo volumes efficiently at the ‘Cool Nordic Cargo Hub’ of Finnair at Helsinki Airport. Design, manufacturing and installation of the material handling equipment, as well as the automation process technology, on-site maintenance and remote monitoring, were delivered as part of a turnkey solution for Finnair.
The new 37,000m² facility in Helsinki was built to raise Finnair’s total cargo capacity to 450,000t of air freight a year. The airline also sought to implement smart processes in terms of automation and data control.
Finnair is the largest Nordic air cargo carrier and transports 145,000t of freight and mail annually. Approximately 250 direct flights with wide-body passenger aircraft between Europe, Asia and the US are served by the Cargo Logistics Hubs in Helsinki and Brussels every week.
Second Asia Airfreight Terminal in Hongkong tripled capacity
In August 2004, Lödige signed a contract to deliver a multi-level material handling system for the new Asia Airfreight Cargo Terminal (AAT) in Hong Kong. AAT tripled its cargo handling capacity and provided state-of-the-art technology for its customers by investing in a second terminal equipped by Lödige.
The total annual handling capacity was expanded to 1.5 million tonnes combining Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Completed in 2006, the new Terminal 2 is capable of handling an additional 910,000t per annum. Peak day loadings are at 4,000t a day. Cargo handling efficiency has risen to 20t/m². On a restricted total floor area of approximately 117,000m², it comprises four floors.
The terminal hosts the four tallest elevating transfer vehicles (ETVs) in the world. The combination of high 2m/s speed and 43m height remains unique in the air freight handling market. The solution draws on advanced IT applications, enabling access to performance reports. From general cargo freighter and perishable cargo to express cargo, performance data is summarised in the supporting terminal application and provides an overview of necessary adjustments.
The AAT is based at Hong Kong International Airport Chek Lap Kok, New Territories. It has two terminals serving the world’s leading airlines, offering a comprehensive range of quality services such as physical cargo handling and document processing. Approximately 30% of the total cargo handling capacity at Hong Kong International Airport is served by AAT.
