John F. Kennedy International Airport has awarded a contract to Thales to modernise its Security Operations Center (SOC) at Terminal 4.

The three-year contract is part of a security modernisation project that aims to improve operations at the terminal.

Under the terms of the contract, Thales will provide integrated security platform, system integration, and airport security engineering services.

Thales US business development vice-president David Scruggs said: “Airport security is key to all aspects of transportation, affecting tourism, airlines, and the local economy.

“The security solution being offered to JFK is a proven solution utilised at other leading airports around the globe, including those that top the list for passenger traffic.”

An Airport Operation Control Center (AOCC) platform to be delivered by Thales will provide processes for enhanced management of security and operations at the airport terminal.

Besides, a command and control centre will be provided to improve monitoring of terminal activities while giving the operators complete functionality of all subsystems and making security personnel proactive. 

The security technologies are expected to help the terminal to accommodate growing passenger traffic and improve passenger services.

Thales also won contracts for airports in Bahrain, Doha, Dubai, Durban, Lyon, Madrid, Muscat, Pisa, Salalah, and Singapore.

The company noted that the latest agreement will serve the interests of its global airport security and operations business expansion.
