Vinci Airports has announced that Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport in France has completed the overhaul and upgrade work of its runway.

The runway was repaired according to the requirements of European certification standards recommended by the French Civil Aviation Safety Authority (DSAC).

Eurovia executed the overhaul work that covered refurbishing of the runway and resurfacing and widening of the stabilised shoulders.

Due to the overhaul work, the main runway was closed in August.

In September, the airport finished the deployment of daytime markings, illuminated signs and lighting. These works, however, did not impact the airport’s traffic.

Following the resumption of the air activity, the airport welcomed its first passengers on an Air France flight from Paris-Charles de Gaulle.

Clermont-Ferrand Auvergne Airport – Vinci Airports director Nicolas Pelerin said: “We are very pleased that the work was carried out according to schedule so that we can once again welcome our passengers.

“The renovation of the runway is essential for the development of the airport, especially the air cargo activity and will allow us to welcome all types of aircraft without operational constraints.”

In July, Vinci Airports installed a tailor-made tool, the Airport Pavement Management System (APMS), to enhance monitoring of its airport pavements.

Vinci Airports teams and infrastructure management software provider AgileAssets jointly developed the solution.

APMS unifies the data on pavement condition monitoring.

Vinci Airports develops, finances, constructs and manages the operations of 45 airports in 12 countries.
