Tricopian, a US-based developer of solutions for portable battery-operated devices, has launched its FuelRod mobile device charging service at the Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) in the US.

The service will enable travellers to recharge their Apple or Android devices with FuelRod ‘Power On The Go’ from 10 SwapBox kiosks deployed across the airport.

To use the service, customers need to buy a FuelRod portable charging kit with connection cables.

A FuelRod Kit can be bought at $20 and used to charge a standard iPhone or Android phone one time.

“The FuelRod service eliminates the additional stress caused from ‘low battery anxiety’ providing a more pleasant travel experience in every airport where our kiosks are deployed.”

After being discharged, the FuelRod can be recharged using a USB connection. Users can also swap a used FuelRod for a fully recharged one at any kiosk in the network.

Tricopian co-founder Joe Yeagley said: “We’re excited to add Charlotte Douglas to the growing list of airports that offer our convenient mobile charging service. Allowing travellers to unplug from a wall or charging station gives them more freedom to take advantage of the unique experiences each airport has to offer.
