Global infrastructure firm AECOM and its partner Luis Vidal + Architects have won a contract from Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) to manage the remodelling of Boston Logan International Airport’s Terminal E.
AECOM will act as the prime consultant, architect and engineer of record for the modernisation project, while Luis Vidal + Architects will serve as the visionary architect.

AECOM will be responsible for delivering complete architectural and engineering design services to Massport for work on more than 400,000ft² of new and renovated terminal space.
The scope of the work includes enhanced ticketing and international arrivals, renovations to the existing terminal, a new passenger security checkpoint, airline clubs, baggage systems and concession space.
Other key elements will include a central multi-storey hall designed to improve travellers’ experience.

The existing international arrivals and customs hall will be renovated using a combination of roof and window design to maximise natural light inflow and efficiency. Windows will be positioned to protect the interior from direct sun exposure.
Wayfinding, spatial clarity and first-class hospitality will also be incorporated into the design.
The completed terminal project will aim to achieve LEED Gold status from the US Green Building Council.
