Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has instructed Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) to expand airports within the Indian state.

The 2.5km airstrip at Greenfield International Airport at Shirdi will be extended to 3.2km under instruction from Fadnavis. In addition, the runway at Akola airport will be expanded.

Fadnavis has ordered officials to establish a regional connectivity scheme within MADC. The company was created by the state government in 2002.

Furthermore, a commercial complex at the Multi-modal International Cargo Hub and Airport at Nagpur (MIHAN) was approved, along with a consultant for the project.

MADC is expected to play a pivotal role in the planning and implementation of the MIHAN project.
