Wi-Fi provider Boingo Wireless has won a contract from Aeroportos de Portugal (ANA) to provide passengers with Wi-Fi Internet services at the ten largest airports in Portugal.
The ten airports to be equipped with the Wi-Fi service reported a 6.4% rise in passenger traffic in 2011, serving a total of 30 million passengers.

ANA ICT manager Tomaz Magalhaes Crespo said: "Boingo brings added value to Internet Wi-Fi services providing a flexible approach to meeting the needs of passengers and stakeholders."
Boingo’s Wi-Fi will allow passengers to access Boingo Europe Plus, which provides unlimited access at more than 200,000 hotspots throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and Boingo Global, which offers access anywhere in the world.
Boingo Wireless EMEA business development director Bjorn Thorngren said: "The addition of ANA’s airports makes Boingo the largest operator of airport Wi-Fi in Europe, as well as in North America."

By GlobalDataThe airports that will receive Boingo’s Wi-Fi services include Portela Airport, Francisco Sa Carneiro Airport, Faro Airport, Madeira Airport, Joao Paulo II Airport, Horta Airport, Porto Santo Airport, Santa Maria Airport, Santa Cruz Airport and Beja Airport.
Boingo Wireless business and corporate development senior vice president Luis Serrano said: "Portugal has recently seen a steady rise in airport passengers, particularly from Germany, the UK, France, Spain, Brazil and US/Canada."
"Partnering with ANA to better serve and enhance the travel experience for all passengers is paramount to our joint success," Serrano said.
Boingo had provided Wi-Fi services at 60 major airports, including London Heathrow, Chicago O’Hare, New York John F. Kennedy, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International, and Rome Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino.
