Brazilian aerospace company Embraer has issued technical guidance for commercial aircraft disinfection amid the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
The company plans to sanitise cockpit sanitisation using UV-C lights, disinfectants and coatings for the cabin across its EMB120 Brasilia, the ERJ 145, the E-Jets, and the E-Jets E2 families of aircraft.

According to the specifications, UV-C Lights in the flight deck region will eliminate the Covid-19 virus.
The disinfectants were developed based on extensive testing and can be applied on all surfaces in the passenger cabin and cockpit.
Embraer has also approved the use of MicroShield360 and Bacoban preventive coating systems.
Designed for aircraft cabin surfaces, the coatings prevent the growth of microorganisms, viruses and bacteria.

“The main goal of this guidance is to effectively eliminate or inactivate a microorganism or virus in the flight deck and the passenger cabin through an effective, yet easy procedure.”
The latest guidance came few months after Embraer released technical guidance to help customers with transportation characteristics and payload requirements for the Covid-19 vaccines when using its aircraft.
Embraer has almost 2,500 commercial aircraft operated in more than 80 countries by over 100 customers.
Despite the pandemic, Embraer delivered 71 jets in the fourth quarter of 2020, including 28 commercial aircraft and 43 executive jets.
