CFM International has secured a $2bn order from Republic Airways Holdings, a unit of Frontier Airlines, for advanced LEAP-1A engines to power the airline’s recently ordered Airbus 80 A320neo aircraft.

The deal also includes a rate-per-flight-hour agreement with CFM to support all 160 LEAP-1A engines for neo aircraft.

As part of the comprehensive services and support agreement, CFM will provide engine maintenance costs on a dollar-per-engine-flight-hour basis.

The LEAP engines will offer 15% fuel savings while also reducing annual CO2 emissions and noise levels, the company said.
