
US-based Honeywell International has secured a $6bn contract from undisclosed aircraft manufacturers to supply its HTF7000 turbofan engines.
The deal was secured by the company’s aerospace division, Honeywell Aerospace, which provides integrated avionics, engines, wheels and brakes systems and service solutions.

Honeywell has not disclosed the details of the customers or engine orders.
The HTF7000 engine orders are part of the long-term contracts that Honeywell’s business aviation unit has received over the past three years, which are estimated to be valued at $19bn, reports Bloomberg.
The HTF7000 engine has been designed to power the General Dynamics’s Gulfstream G280 and Bombardier’s Challenger 300 business jetliners.
The HTF7000 was certified in 2002 and entered service with more than 27,000 hours of engine testing to ensure the high levels of in-service reliability.

By GlobalDataProducing thrust of 6500-7500lb, the engine features a wide cord damperless fan, SLE compressor airfoil technology, a low-emissions effusion cooled combustor, transpiration cooled HPT blades, and a dual-channel FADEC; it is available with a full nacelle and thrust reverser.
The global business jet market has declined due to the economy slowdown and lower spending by the companies. As a result, the number of private jet deliveries in 2012 decreased to 649, compared with 678 aircraft in the preivous year.
However, the number of commercial jetliners delivered totalled 1,572, compared with 1,372 in 2011, according to Honeywell Aerospace.
Honeywell’s commercial jet business has received a $28bn of work during the period, including controllers for Boeing’s narrow-body 737 MAX and Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China’s single-aisle C919 aeroplane.
Honeywell’s support network includes more than 22 service centres worldwide trained to maintain the HTF7000.
