CareFlite president and chief executive officer James Swartz said that the Bell 407GXs have been selected because of the reliability of the rotorcraft, combined with its state-of-the-art avionics and factory installed autopilot.

Featuring the Garmin G1000HTM integrated glass flight deck, the Bell 407GX is a new version of the Bell 407 helicopter, which was introduced in March 2008.

Seating six, the helicopter can fly at an altitude of 5,370m with a range of 611km, and a maximum cruise speed of 246kmph.

Bell Helicopter commercial sales and marketing executive vice-president Danny Maldonado said that CareFlite’s selection of 407GX for its life-saving operations marked another major acquisition for the aircraft in the helicopter emergency medical services segment in the US and in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

"The Bell 407GX is an ideal aircraft for air medical missions that inherently demand a reliable platform with exceptional speed and safety performance," Maldonado said.

Over the past 34 years, CareFlite has airlifted more than 75,000 patients.
