The ADS-B next-generation aircraft surveillance system uses global navigation satellites to track the positions of aeroplanes.

Saab’s system will enhance the safety of flights traversing the visual corridor between Enrique Olaya Herrera Airport (SKMD) and Jose Maria Cordova International Airport (SKRG).

"Saab’s multilateration and ADS-B solutions provide air navigation service providers like Aerocivil with the critical surveillance they need."

The technology will provide coverage in areas that are difficult to reach using traditional radar systems.

Saab Traffic Management head Anders Carp said: "Saab’s multilateration and ADS-B solutions provide air navigation service providers like Aerocivil with the critical surveillance they need while costing much less than radar-based solutions."
