Malaysia Airports has launched KLIA Aeropolis, a property development project that seeks to change an area around Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) into an airport city.
As part of Malaysia Airports’ five-year business plan ‘Runway to Success 2020’, the KLIA Aeropolis is an ecosystem development that in line with the airport business as well as the development plan of Malaysia.

The airport city will be built up over a land bank, 13,000 acres of which has been allocated for airport use.
Of the allocated space, 6,000 acres will be used by the KLIA airport system, while the remaining 7,000 acres will be assigned for long-term airport growth requirements.
The airport city is expected to contribute $7.34bn to Malaysia’s gross domestic product (GDP) over a 15-year period, excluding airport terminal operations.
The project is also estimated to create 56,000 job opportunities in the country, thereby improving its local economy.

By GlobalDataMalaysia Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said: "On behalf of the Government of Malaysia, I would like to commend Malaysia Airports for initiating a project that not only will spur Malaysia’s economic development but also will enhance Malaysia’s reputation in eyes of the world as a vibrant hub for aviation business and connectivity, as well as for trade."
KLIA Aeropolis will be developed in three major areas that include aerospace and aviation, air cargo and logistics, and facilities for events and conferences.
KLIA handles more than 50 million passengers annually, with more than 60 airlines serving 130 destinations.
