Trent 700 Regional

Rolls-Royce has announced that its new Trent 700 Regional engine has been selected to power the recently announced Airbus A330 Regional jets.

Specifically designed for the A330 aircraft, the Trent 700 offers improved fuel savings and reduces emissions and noise. It currently powers 70% of A330 regional operations, with every A330 operator in mainland China opting for the engine.

The Trent 700 Regional, which is optimised particularly for the A330 Regional aircraft, saves operators almost $1m annually for each aeroplane, compared with similar engines in the market.

Rolls-Royce Civil Large Engines president Eric Schulz said: "Our performance advantages have given us a market-leading position on the A330 and we look forward to this latest phase in its development."

The latest version of Trent 700 offers reduced thrust customised for aircraft regional operations, while delivering lower maintenance costs and longer time on wing.

Trent 700 Regional engines will also be equipped with the latest performance upgrades, a second enhanced performance (EP2) package available from 2015, which will deliver an additional 1% improvement, with annual savings of more than 60,000gal of fuel for each aircraft.
