Engine MRO service provider MTU Maintenance has secured a €200m contract from Japanese low-cost carrier Solaseed Air to provide maintenance services for its 24 CFM56-7B and 7BE engines on Boeing 737-800 aircraft.

Under the 12-year contract, MTU Maintenance will also provide spare engine and on-site support to Solaseed Air.

The company will repair the engines at its facility in Zhuhai, China.

MTU received first maintenance contract from Solaseed Air for its CFM56-3 engines in 2011.

Previously called Skynet Asia Airways, Solaseed Air serves domestic destinations with round-trip flights on eight routes across Japan.

MTU Maintenance Zhuhai, a 50/50 venture between of MTU Aero Engines and China Southern Air, repairs and overhauls CFM56 and V2500 engines.
