Germany-based management consulting firm Lufthansa Consulting has entered a comprehensive agreement with Iraq’s Ministry of Transport in order to revamp the country’s airports, its national carrier Iraqi Airways and its civil aviation authority (ICAA).

The new long-term deal includes the formulation of a strategic advisory and implementation project for the sector.

In addition, the deal will reinforce the ICAA in accordance with international standards and best practices, as well as allow Iraqi Airways to become a major airline in the Middle East.

The contract will also help transform the country’s Baghdad International Airport into a global hub serving three continents.

In June, the company took a delegation from Kauhava Airport, a former military airbase in Finland, to visit former US and German Air Force bases in Germany.
