Airport authority Groupe Aéroports de Paris (ADP) has secured a tender from the Government of Bahrain to design and perform supervision work for a new air traffic control (ATC) centre at Bahrain International Airport.

Awarded by the Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications (MoTT) of the Kingdom of Bahrain, the new tender has been won by Groupe ADP’s wholly-owned subsidiary, ADP Ingénierie.

ADP Ingénierie CEO Gratien Maire said: “The decision of the authorities of the Kingdom of Bahrain to award ADP Ingénierie the contract for the design studies for the new ATC centre bolsters our presence in the country and their recognition of our expertise.

“This choice comes while we are already in the process of designing the airport’s new passenger terminal.

“The close and trusting relationship with this customer, combined with the detailed knowledge of their expectations, has enabled us to meet the specific needs expressed for this new ATC centre.”

Under the 18-month contract signed by ADP Ingénierie, the company will maintain and enhance the efficiency of Bahrain’s ATC operations, which is strictly in line with international standards, mainly during en-route flight phases.

ADP Ingénierie will also be responsible for modernising air navigation facilities to help handle rapid growth in the country’s air traffic, enable airlines to optimise their capacities, and enhance the operational safety and efficiency of flights.

Bahrain International Airport’s new regional ATC centre will be constructed over a total surface area of approximately 3,000m².

It will feature a three-level design that will simplify the servicing and maintenance of equipment, ensuring the continuous use of systems.
