The Government of Vietnam has approved the first phase of the Long Thành International Airport in Đồng Nai province.
The project comprises of four module plans, such as essential airport facilities, flight management services, and other related operations.

Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV), which runs around 21 airports across the country, has plans to raise funding for the construction of passenger terminals, airport buildings, the aircraft apron, and cargo terminals.
In 2017, the investment $4.6m for the first phase was sanctioned by the National Assembly, along with a resolution to provide compensation and resettlement of affected individuals.
In October, the central government had urged authorities of Đồng Nai Province to handover the lands for the commencement of the airport’s construction early next year.
A deadline for the assessment of vacated land for compensation purposes was also fixed by November end.

By GlobalDataTo ensure the plan remains on schedule, the Ministry of Transport will work closely with the province to resolve disputes if any.
Construction of the airport will result in the relocation of around 4,800 households and 26 organisations.
Covering a total area of more than 5,580ha, the airport will also cover as many as six communes in Long Thành.
With the construction divided into three stages, the project will cost around $14.47bn.
Under phase one, a 4,000m runway, taxiways, an apron, and a passenger terminal with other auxiliary works comprising a total floor area of 373,000 square metre will be constructed.
The first phase will cater to 1.2 million tonnes of cargo and 25 million passengers each year.
To ensure a capacity of 100 million passengers and 5 million tonnes of cargo a year by 2040, the airport is likely to have four passenger terminals, four runways, and other facilities.
The new airport is also expected to cut down the pressure from the country’s largest airport Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport in HCM City.
