The company claims these automated screening lanes have been optimised for a better screening process and user experience compared to conventional manual lanes.

In a statement, Vanderlande said: “The experience acquired through years of cooperation with airports of all sizes across the globe has proven that there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution for the screening process.

“The latest addition to Vanderlande’s portfolio of passenger checkpoint solutions, PAX Compact, will allow the company to better meet the needs of customers and partners with specific requirements.”

The newly launched automated screening lanes have a compact design, with a length starting at 10m.

The new modular and future-proof solution can integrate with both conventional and computer tomography (CT) scanners.

According to the company, the solution can also facilitate remote screening.

The launch comes close on the heels of Vanderlande Industries (VI) Australia securing the contract to supply a new baggage handling system (BHS) to Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSIA).

The system will leverage digital technology to track, load and move baggage more efficiently.

It can also retrieve each baggage item individually at any time without recirculation, and bags can be sorted directly to a workstation.
