Joint venture Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited (TBAL) is set to add a new production line for the manufacture of Boeing 737 aircraft vertical fin structures.

Covering more than 14,000m², TBAL is located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

With the new line, the facility will be capable of manufacturing complex vertical fin structures for the 737 family of aeroplanes.

Boeing India president Salil Gupte said: “Tata Boeing Aerospace Limited is an example of Boeing’s commitment towards co-development of integrated systems in aerospace and defence in India for the world and a reflection of the country’s Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative.

“Skilled talent, robust infrastructure, ease of doing business, and a highly responsive government administration make Telangana an ideal destination.”

The new production line will leverage advanced robotics and automation in manufacturing. It will create additional employment opportunities and enable skill development.

TBAL produces aero-structures for Boeing’s AH-64 Apache helicopter, including fuselages, secondary structures, and vertical spar boxes for customers worldwide.

Telangana Municipal Administration and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao said: “This is a noteworthy step in the growth of India’s aerospace and defence manufacturing.

“Telangana is an established hotbed for India’s defence and aerospace industry supported by a robust ecosystem, including a large pool of skilled and industry-ready work-force. I congratulate Boeing and Tata for this milestone.”

Boeing supports commercial and government customers in more than 150 countries. It has a supply chain, consisting of 250 local companies in India. The company employs 3,000 people in the country.
