Air transport IT specialist SITA has partnered with Versa Networks to launch SITA Connect Go technology, which has been designed for the air transport industry.

Versa Networks and SITA together developed SITA Connect Go, which is a multi-tenant edge Secure Software-Defined Wide Area Network (SD-WAN) solution.

SITA Connect Go enables several airlines, ground handlers, and other tenants to safely access the same virtualised infrastructure at airports and in the Cloud.

The new solution will help the airline industry to adopt multi-Cloud technology.

SITA Communications and Data Exchange senior vice-president Martin Smillie said: “As a longstanding industry partner trusted with bridging more than 60% of the air transport community’s data exchange, we are proud to introduce the next generation of SDN technology.

“The current volatile economic environment requires that airlines adjust to passenger peaks and troughs, wherever they want to fly. In Versa, we have found a tried-and-tested partner with market-leading technology to support the complex requirements specific to the air transport industry.”

The new partnership combines the expertise of SITA and Versa Networks into a single solution.

A US-based company, Versa Networks offers secure access service edge (SASE) and Secure SD-WAN technology.

Versa Networks EMEA MSP vice-president Hector Avalos said: “We are delighted to partner with SITA to meet the connectivity needs of today’s air transport industry.

“With today’s shifting travel landscape, industry stakeholders need greater connectivity, agility, unprecedented reliability, and airtight network security. We have tailored the new solution to meet these requirements and power the future of air travel.”

Last month, Lebanese flag carrier Middle East Airlines –Air Liban renewed its contract with SITA for incorporating a Cloud-based baggage reconciliation system at Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) in Beirut, Lebanon.
